Default FAST 92 vs. FAST 90?

I tried a search and came up with this: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...hlight=FAST+92

Does anybody know if the 92mm is much better? What is this about having to cut the firewall? Has anybody dynoed one versus a 90mm? Would it be overkill on a 383 with good (not insane) heads? Thanks in advance!

the FAST92 is quite new, and IIRC has replaced the 90. Not enough ppl have installed and tested the 92, not even over on LS1Tech.com

Soon there should be lots of info.

I guess I should just ask whether it would be better to just pick up a 90mm for probably less $$, or purchase a 92mm for a 383. Thanks!

I would assume this 92mm unit replaces the 90mm. If you have FAST 90 already I doubt very seriously the additional 2mm will make enough difference to justify a replacement. Just my $.02

My understanding the 92 is exactly the same at the 90 but they opened the throttle body opening another 2mm.

This must be the 5th thread Ive posted this in but the bottom line is a 92mm FAST wont be worth a single HP over a 90mm FAST (all else remaining equal).

The restriction is not at the snout of the intake....its much further down the line related to the up and over runner configuration and the compromises in airflow that go along with it. Not to mention in the other direction your 90mm intake opening is already restricted by your MAF, airbridge, and other related items in front of it. The new manifold has stainless hardware (nice perk), a better TB gasket, and a pretty 92 mm logo on the front....and of course a new "buzz" in the marketplace.

Save your money and get the 90 if you can.....soon you wont have that option so all this fussing will be a mute point.

Tony

Thanks for the honesty Tony. I was hoping that you would chime in! Sounds like a 90mm will be fine for me.

The 92mm is better!
It has four more red letters than the 90mm and a 2mm larger hole

Ask you wife where she wants you to have two extra mm, she'll tell you in her whole.
