Default Hi Flo cats/exhaust question

Anyone have a favorite Hi Flo cat? Notice any difference from stock? Why (speed or sound) and where are they available? I'm listening to different opinions and looking for a site that sells quality products. What's the advantage of an X-pipe?

TIA

The HI performance cats are all made of metal substrate and not ceramic--The metal one last much longer---The most popular brand advertised for Corvettes run about $300 ---You can buy some spun bullet 3" metal cats that are cheaper & very nice for $60 ea.--Look in Performance-Curve website--they have several brands as well --magniflow---etc.

I have Random Tech High Flow Cats & X-pipe.

Yes the sound was different, yes there was a bit of a power increase.

but then again, I put LTs on at the same time.

Dont bother changing to high flow cats without LTs and new X-pipe and mufflers.

Check your areas emissions inspections requirements too.

Randon Technology SS x-pipe,and hi-flo cats 655.00 to 695.00

As you can see from my sig I just installed the GHL magnums so I have a great sound w/o drone but it could be a wee bit louder. Again, what is an x pipe and what does it do? Would I be better off with an X pipe than a Hi Flo? Budget is limited......

x-pipe balances the sound and power out put. However, you still need long tube headers, Cold Air intake plus a great tune to make any real difference

If your budget is limited, there are better options for mods then high flow cats. Blackwing cold air intake is not that expesive or hard to install.

I'm still looking for the right intake. Right now I'm trying to get the sound just right LOL

Thanks!

I have a 2001 Coup.
I installed Stainless Works headers, Random Technology, High Flow Cats and X Pipe. The car was noticably stronger but it had a nasty drone at 2500 RPM with the stock mufflers. I eventually pulled the cats and X-pipe back off the car and went back with the stock cats and H pipe. I then upgraded the stock mufflers to Zo6 Titanium. The car is now much too quiet for most 20 year olds but as a old guy who likes a quiet interior it's perfect. I can tell you that the HF Cats do make a difference in performance. When I took mine off the car seemed to lose power and of course the sound was not as aggressive. I always liked the exhaust note with the HF Cats installed. The car sounded great....except the drone

I just replaced my cat on the Jeep last week with the Random Flow unit. It made the Jeep sound a little louder and deeper. Slight power increase but not enough to justify replacing a good cat with.
