There are a couple of reasons that this could have happened. My car has manual controls and I had the blower motor resistor go. This caused the blower to work in high, but not low settings. In your case, it's likely that the motor failed completely since you heard it vibrating and all (but it would be helpful to know more about your symptoms and whether or not you have auto climate controls or manual). It's a fairly easy swap - I had to remove my blower motor to get access to the resistor location. There are only a couple of hex head screws holding it in place under the passenger side dashboard. It should be obvious how to replace it when you look under there. I think the part is in the neighborhood of 100 bucks, but check out one of the forum parts vendors to be sure.

When you drop it out, you will have your answer. Hint: Probably need a cat or some traps...

Here is shop manual version:

Document ID# 1203717
2004 Chevrolet Corvette

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blower Motor Replacement
Removal Procedure

Remove the I/P lower insulator panel - RH. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

Caution
Unplug the blower motor before removal. Blower motor case contact with any ground may start the fan and cause personal injury.

Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.

Disconnect the blower motor cooling tube from the HVAC module.
Remove the blower motor retaining screws.
Remove the blower motor from the HVAC module.
Installation Procedure

Install the blower motor to the HVAC module.

Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the blower motor retaining screws. Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.7 N·m (15 lb in).

Connect the blower motor cooling tube to the HVAC module.

Connect the blower motor electrical connector.
Install the I/P lower insulator panel - RH. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

Check for water damage. The large drain udders under the cowl can clog allowing water to build up in the fan chamber.

Remove the passenger side foot-well panel and inspect for evidence of water leaking down onto the BCM (body control module) (computer).

Do this soon.

This may not be the cause of your problem at all, but with the potential damage that can result from water, it’s certainly worth a look at the BCM & fuse box area.

I know some people take off their cats or even hollow them out, however I don't suggest doing either in your case !

But you did say the Tomcat was fat, maybe if he was a little more hungry . . .

I know you fixed your problem, but for information for other people, I found the clips in the "fuse" box that holds the blower circuit breaker to be loose on my 03 Z. A little squeeze with the needle nose, and no more intermittent blower.

I have the extended warranty, but elected not to have some one else messing with my car.

Good find, I bet that GM mechanics would have a problem finding that.
