Default C5 noise

I just traded in my 1994 and bought a 2002 pewter/black auto with 27k miles.
It's an awesome car with almost all of the options. What a difference, C-4 to C-5.

When I first start the car cold, it sounds like a diesel motor for about a minute. This I understand is piston slap, but my questions is, should I let it idle until warm or is it ok to drive like this? Is it doing any damage?

Also, the tire pressures on the DIC range from 29-31 degrees for pressure. Is this normal as the tires get warmer, or should I have it re-calibrated? Once I've been driving a while the pressures stay steady. It seems to change when tires are cold.

See you at the show and shines.

Thanks.

It doesnt do any damage, I myself would wait for it to stop before I drive it.

As you drive the car, the tires will warm up and the air pressure will increase.

the only way to recalibrate the tire sensors... is with replacing them. (not that I think yours are malfunctioning in any way).

FYI; the tire pressure reporting system on the C5 is not intended to be a scientific measurement device. It's mainly to tell you whether your run-flat tires have zero pressure or not (since the driver may never be able to notice).

What viscosity oil is in your engine? If it's too thick at startup (like 20W-50), that could be your problem. Use 5W-30 (preferably), 0W-30 or 0W-40 for protection at startup (and almost any temperature you can throw at it). having a good high-flow oil filter like the K&N is another way to get the oil circulating quickly upon startup.
