The reason for striking the door is to unstick the contacts on your window motor. Since your lock is not working either, did you try the connectors I showed you the picture of? You may not be getting power to the door. Feel free to start replacing relays if you wish, maybe you'll get lucky and had two relays fail at the same time and you'll replace the right two. And the contacts inside the relay are mechanical contacts. If they are stuck, striking will sometimes free them, too. Replace the whole box, then you'll know. You can replace the whole door, but if you don't have the voltage and the ground, you'll still have the same problem.

Newbie posting here....So since my passenger door lock and window aren't working, but I do hear the relay clicking on the window trying to work it could still be just the connectors?

I'd sure try giving them a good wiggle, but if you hear the relay click when you push the window button, it's more likely stuck contact in the motor or the contacts in the relay may be charred. If it were my car, I'd try holding the switch and wiggling vigorously the connector bundle in the hinge, and then if slamming the door while holding the switch didn't work, I'd remove the door panel and try tapping on the window motor while holding the switch. Then I'd try the relay replacement fix in the sticky section. That's the order I'd use to try to pin down the source. If it's clicking, you must be getting power to the relays. Post what you find.

OK...Here's what happen. I held down the window and door lock buttons and wiggled the wire bundle in the door...no dice. Then I hold down the window button and bang the panel...now the window works. However, I still can't get the door lock to operate. I do hear the relay "clicking", but the lock will not operate. Is it possible that the door lock relay is bad? Or could it be a silimar issue as was with the window?

It could be the relay. If you hear it clicking, it's getting power and the switch is working. Either the locking mechanism is jammed, the actuator isn't working or the relay. Sorry, I don't know much about the locking actuator, I haven't seen any issues with those. Can you lock and unlock the door with the key? If so, you can probably eliminate the locking mechanism jamming.

Did you read the sticky about the relays with the pictures of which does what?

Seriously, open the dooor. Turn on the key, and hold the button down. Make a fist and give the door some SOLID hits in the mid/lower center with the side of your fist. I was a little timid with mine. Finally, after the 7th hit, I got pissed off and hit it HARD. BINGO! the window worked and has continued to work for the last year and a half. If that don't work you got to troubleshoot it.

Did you read his post just above? He did that and now the window works. Now he's asking about the power lock.

I guess that is part of my question. Since giving the panel a bang made the window work, is there a chance a few more bangs could help something release so that the door lock would work?

On an '02 there is no key mechanism on the passenger side, so I cant try that. However, the door will manually lock and unlock. I have read the stickies...a few times. A lot of it talks about the door lock relay getting pitted and loosing contact and therefore, will not operate. But I couldn't see if giving it a "bang" could get it operating temporarily.

My Vette does sit quite a bit, so I did learn I should "exercise" the windows and locks on a regular basis to keep them operating better.

Thanks for all the assistance. I'm a first time Vette owner and I can tell the people on this site are very helpful. Looking forward to many great years ahead.

Has everyone that is having issues check the wiring in the accordion area?

One way to trouble shoot this problem is first verifying that both the driver and passenger side switches do not work that door. If that is the case then the problem most likely resides in the door but the accordion area needs to be checked first. Another thing to look for is whether or not the door switches light up. If they don't then the problem is definitely NOT in the door, it's electrical (which again, brings you back to the accordion tube).

Hi, my driver window and door lock both dont allways work , but without beating on door panel , simply push on wire harness with door open fixes power loss , also a drive to the park or a cool bubble bath magicly seems to repair minor power loss , also passenger door allways unlocks and window too , could this be due to door not being opened and closed as frequently as driver side.... hmmmmmmm ..... peace

I checked the fuse...it's good. I checked for lights...they are on. So at this point it looks more and more like a relay problem. Especially since I can hear a "clicking" sound when I try to operate the lock switch on either door and from the FOB

Ok, with the window issue resolved, then you probably do need to change out your door lock relays. Here is the step by step instructions on how to do it. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1606865

No, I didn't think that, just sarcastic. We all are from time to time, nothing wrong with a little sarcasm.

Common on a lot of GM cars.. I had to take the door panel off on my Blazer and hit the window motor with a rubber mallet.. 3 times real hard.. Put the door panel back on.. No problems with the window.. 2 years ago

Mine started to have window problems intermittantly and the lock wouldn't lock intermittantly. I changed out the relay box with one from a salvage '04 and it solved the problems.

I didn't see anywhere if you did this (or I missed it) but if you don't hear the click, did you check the fuse?

Has anyone thought to clear the codes for the LDCM and RDCM yet? I had a friend of mine clear his codes after having the same problem and guess what? He no longer has that problem. Give it a try.
It seems like every panel on the vette has a computer to control something behind it. With that many computers talking to each other something is bound to get lost in translation and create a fault. Clear your codes and start over. You may not really have a problem.
