Some of you may know, but my #7 rings were shot so Im prepping for a new motor and some other upgraded goodies Here are some disassembly pics for your viewing pleasure. Oh, and dont make fun of my jacking methods holding the diff and tranny up haha, Im going to buy a motorcycle jack tonight.
Looks like some of my handiwork, hey....as long as it's safe it'll do in a pinch!
That was our thinking when we did my heads/cam. We put a 2x4 between the two trusses that the tow strap was across to keep the from squeezing together. We put the entire weight of the engine/torque tube on it and it was fine!
I can say with absolute certainty I do not miss those days. How bad is it that I am beginning to hate working on my car?
Aw come on...its not that bad LOL I absolutly love it. I work as a mechanic so I worked 8 hours today, then came home and worked more on mine. Though I do enjoy working on my own better

Right on, Question why did you remove the drivetrain? The reason why I ask is because I'm doing a motor build and I'm going to remove the motor from the top.

I was in the same boat bother... I like the mechanical stuff, but having to deal with paint shops is tough when the work is out of your control and things aren't going smoothly. Many a day I wished I had a JSB '08 in the garage, but now that things are back on track I'm excited about my car again
Chris how'd you find out #7 was shot? Were you spraying this motor?

I am putting hardened output shafts in and also a DTE brace. Perfect time for it

I know what you mean about the Paint situation. I had hassles with mine this past summer getting done like it should be.
As for the motor, I did a leakdown on #7 and it showed 30% leakage, then when I added a squirt of oil to the cylinder it dropped to about 14%. That means rings are shot. I was spraying this motor but everything was PERFECT before I added heads and had it retuned. I dont want to get into bashing anyone but I will say I truly believe it could have been prevented had they spent a little more time on the tune Anyway, its been a while man, hows the car coming?
^ Pretty good... still alot of putting it back together to do... very easy to rip it apart and bag/tag the stuff, but trying to put it all back together w/ the manuals can be trickey... much easier with a buddy over esp a buddy who has a C5 for reference.
