I searched thru several threads and did not find anyone with a similar situation, so I am hoping someone will be able to assist.
I have a 99 Coupe and the right turn signal went out shortly after I purchased the car. I replaced the bulb and it worked fine for a while then quit again. Found that the socket was corroded on the inside. Cleaned it out, replaced the buld and it worked fine until about a week ago. We had some rain, then the next day it quit working...removed the bulb again yesterday and found that half of the inside of the socket was burned. The bulb works but I guess that the portion that is burned is the part that controls the turn signal, when I use the left turn signal, on the inside I get a fast flash as well as the rear tail light.
Will I need to replace or can I just replace the socket or should I replace the entire harness?
Thank you in advance for any assistance...this is driving me
Its worth pulling the light unit. You'll probably find it's cracked or burned and is letting in water. It may be possible to reseal it or you may have to replace the housing. Once its dry you can clean up the socket and it'll probably be fine.
Its quite a common problem and often its the DRLs that cause the overheating.
