Default need help, what clutch to get???

I have a 99 vette 6 spd and have been experiencing the sticky pedal now for about 5 months. i have used rangers method to replace the fluid and this does not seem to be working. i am just going to go ahead and replace the cluth with an aftermarket one (so far am leaning towards the spec stage 2, 2+ or 3, along with their alluminum flywheel and pressure plate.) i would also replace the slave and master cylinder becasue the vehicle has 105,000 miles on it. I figured it could use a new cluth anyway because i am going to be adding some power to it soon. what do you think is my best bet for an aftermarket one to help with this problem? any help would be appreciated
thanks

Default replacement clutch

I had a spec 3+ installed and it held great under all conditions. Problem is that they dont last long. 15k miles and its timefor a new one. Now I am looking for a new clutch with better service life.

The LS7 is a good clutch and you can get it for a good price....but if you are drag racing your car or shifting it hard and fast a lot the LS7 will fail....it is meant for road racing! Also if you are not road racing you want to stay with a steal fly wheel! The aluminum will hurt you on take off and getting out of the hole!

I love the Spec 3+....it is rated at 850ftlbs.....and at a really good price....$530 to your door step! and you can still use the stock fly wheel just resurface it because the clutch comes with a plate to put behind the slave to put the peddle in the right place!

It used to be rated at 900ftlbs....until they came out with the twin disk....they lowered the rating to help sell the twin disk but made no changes to the clutch

I have the textralia Oz700 Z grip in mine now and love it. I wish they still offered the aluminum flywheel option. I went with the Textralia only because of the future mods I will be doing.

I am wondering if the new ZR1 clutch will fit. Lightweight, street friendly dual disc from GM.

I have the Tex X-grip.

^^My guess is that your clutch problem is not due to the clutch assembly but failing hydraulics. How old is the slave cylinder? I have a 99 and the slave cylinder was kaput!

If you are going to change clutches a lot of people seem to like the textralia. Also, get a remote bleeder from Charlie @ RPM Motors.

on all counts. The slave on my 99 was toast. The throwout bearing came out in pieces. I also purchased the remote bleeder from RPM. Bleeding the clutch could not have been easier.

I have allways kind of been attracted to the spec clutch cuz they got a matching aluminum flywheel and presure plate that will make the setup much lighter, do u guys think it is worth it to get the aluminum flywheel and the aluminum pressure plate? or should i just get my stock flywheel resurfaced? whats the advantage and disadvantage of going with the lighter aluminum

^^I have not heard many good things said about the spec clutches.

Go with a lightweight steel flywheel. The vette does not have a scattershield. If your flywheel goes so could you. You really don't want a "hand grenade" going off under you and that is the risk you take with having an aluminum flywheel.

I wanted an aluminum flywheel myself. Thankfully, I have a very knowledgeable brother, who cares about my well-being, and he told me that it was steel or nothing!! He of course won that one!!

Note: I am not mechanically gifted. He is.

FWIW, I have heard a lot of good things about the textralia clutches. Pedal pressure is close to stock and they hold up well. A lot of people and shops are using it.
