Default Convertible Window Adjustment?

The driver-side window in my 2000 Convertible has noticeably more wind noise than the passenger-side window has. Is there a way to adjust the position of the door glass so that it seals better? Is this better left to someone who has experience? I don't want to make it worse!

Thanks!

Here you go. I'll save you the search:

Window Tip In Adjustment

Tools Required

#6 Inverted TORX® Socket

1. Position the window fully up.
2. Remove the large access plug from under the front of the door.
3. Loosen the window regulator front channel mounting nut.

4. Remove the reflector from the trim panel
5. Loosen the jack screw jam nut.
6. Adjust tip in with the jack screw.
o Turn the jack screw clockwise to tip the window outward.
o Turn the jack screw counterclockwise to tip the window inward.
o One turn of the screw equals approximately 1 N•m (0.04 in) change at the top of the window.
7. Tighten the jack screw jam nut.
8. Lower the window.
9. Tighten the window regulator channel front mounting nut.
10. Raise the window and check the alignment.
11. Install the access plug under the front of the door.
12. Install the reflector in the door trim panel.

Chances are you need very little "Window Tip-In" if any at all. More likely your weather stripping needs some adjustment. The aluminun "L" bars as I call them, can be adjusted just with a little pressure to make the weather stripping come out more or be pushed in more.

You can also (straight out of the GM Dealership Mechanics Manual) get some double stick tape and stick it on the inside of the weather stripping to make it pop out more. It will do the same thing

before you start messing with adjustments.. please try this. get some old credit cards.. sure some your wife has will work fine cut them long ways and about a quarter inch thick. slip them in the roof between the metal edge and rubber. be sure to not have them cross the slit where the roof flods. trust me once you see it it will make sense. this pushes the rubber agaist the window slightly. it should work because it worked great for mine.

I wonder if this will work for me both Drv and pass. windows are noise. the driver side is starting to frail the stitching on the edge of the roof. I thought of alignment. and as for the instruction I don't get it. do you remove the door panel or just the access bottom and the reflector and turn counter clock

The stitching on the edge is starting to wear b/ you need a top adjustment. This is a common problem on the top after years of it being stretched. Here is the thread for that issue which is separate than the loud wind noise issue.

Thanks for the link and info. I hope I can do this right. after reading the DYI I remember that I also get allot of wind noise from the rear. the information from the link even shows how to get rid of it. If I can fix this My Vert will be more pleasurable to drive, with the top up of course. Thanks again for the info. I'll post up my results when done

SORRY glerma.. Did'nt mean to hijack your post...

Your welcome Curious to whats going on though with "a lot wind noise coming from the rear" I've never read anyone complaining about that, its usually from the passenger or drivers window

How much clearance from the rear lid do you have from the top? In other words, how much vertical space between the two?

Clearance How would check that?
I got a sound barrier to eliminate the trunk noise about 2 weeks ago. Last Saturday I went on the NJ turnpike and the noise was very annoying I figured that with the sound barrier it would have minimize, I was wrong. So when I started reading this post My curiosity drew me to the top not meeting the rear lid. But I also have the marks to proof that the top is meeting the rear lid. I will aligne the top with the door windows and take it from there. I just want no water and less wind noise in the car.

I thought you were implying that you were getting wind noise from the rear part of the top that sits on the back lid, but sounds like your referring to the road noise from the trunk area. This can be minimized also with insulation. Numerous threads on this also.

Yes that is what I was implying. This is still under investigation. Im going to do all of the adjustments this weekend. if all goes well a test drive will follow. I'll post up the results.
