I've got the brutal squeaks going on with my 02 z06. I replaced both belts and the drive belt idler and tensioners. BUT I have no idea which way the drive belt idler gets put back on the damn car. My careless *** never noticed. The first way I put it on the bolt starting backing out but I may not have snugged it down enough. Could y'all help me out by explaining orientation of the idler and the best way to snug it down correctly?

Pics for your reference....

The open side goes toward the engine. Not sure why the bolt would back out.. tighten it more

Use the correct torque specs, don't randomly overtorque it. For a little insurance against backing out, use a little blue locktite.

Manual says 37lbft for either idler or tensioner.

Can someone just confirm if the idler pulley (when tourqued to specs) should spin freely when the car is off. I haven't gotten to this install yet but just want to be sure that everything is seated correctly the idler pulley should spin freely. I wasn't sure.

Thanks!
