Default 800rwhp + need help

Hi, first time poster long time lurker here and i decided to register to ask a few questions.

I am the owner of an 01 coupe and i recently sold my "hotrod". I have been using the vette as a dd but i just picked up an accord for every day use now. soo, i am wanting to put some more power in the vette. my goal is somewhere around 700 rwhp but i would really like to achieve anywhere between 800 to 900 rwhp.

1.) what are some must have supporting mods?

2.) as for a cam i want something really big while still being efficient for forced induction.

3.) i know i will need to build the engine. what forged internals would you recommend?

4.) still havent picked out the FI kit yet, i really want to go with a supercharger because of the easy install and i really like to put in the wrench time. But i dont know what kind of numbers these things will put down with a supercharger so i will probably go turbo. What FI manufacturers would you recommend?

sorry for all the questions you guys i just want to make sure i do this right the first time and not over look anything. also, who is a good tuner near charlotte nc?

Big cams and FI or super charged may not be compatible. If you want to go FI or SC a smallish medium lift cam would be your better choice.

What is the fixation with that number?

I recommend you check out the forced induction section of the forum. One of my long term goals if I can justify it is to go forced induction so I observe from a far. Anyways, people gernerally seem to be really happy with the products from A and A corvettes or ECS, might want to check with them about your goals. I believe their kits are pretty complete.

With the kind of power you want though, I imagine you will need to beef up the drive train as well.

EG believes big cams and FI work fine together. but most dont do it.

I would let a good engine builder build you a block and then throw a supercharger on it. You are also going to need to reinforce the drivetrain. Good luck with your quest

i do know it will take some money to get where i want to but i figure if i do most of the work myself it will cut the cost down some. about how much would it be to get someone to build a block for me? Any good companies out there?

if i did just go with forged internals what would be the best internals to go with?

It would help immensely if you filled out your profile so we had some idea where in the world you are located .... there are people on this forum who are in Thailand ... Dubai ... Germany ... you already got one response from Canada .... give us some clue ....

I will have at least 20K by the time I am done and that was just in Engine, Fuel, and KB. This does not include drivetrain which will be another 10K.

thanks for all of the responses. I was thinking of just saying screw it and go directly through speed inc. but i am deffinatly wanting to do my own work. it is alot funner that way. i sent a pm to your friend with the full setup and that would save me alot of time. thanks for the recommendations.

also i am located near charlotte nc. i actually just sold my ///m3 that was putting down right over 600 to the wheels. It lost its edge and wasnt scaring me very much anymore. the quickest way to fix that is more power!

You should go over to the FI section with the HP goals you have. Gonna need FI to get there.

Besides the motor you will have to fortify your entire drive line from the clutch on back. It is good you want to spin a wrench because otherwise the cost would be in the stratosphere!

Like others have said, check out the F/I forums. Although there is great satisfaction in building your own, there are a few C-5's for-sale that are up to this power level. I would bet that you could not build one for what you could buy one for that is already done.

That is what I did, plus I no longer have the time or desire to take on another project after the last few cars I have done. Good luck with your build!
