I am planning to install a transco kit in my 99 vette. Is this a wise decision or is there a better alternative? The installer told me ,he doesn't like to make them shift so hard they "bang" going into gear.pricedat $600 including the kit.6 hrs. to install. :chevy :flag :flag :chevy (stars and stripes forever)
:bs I don't know WHO you spoke with but that's NOT the case at all.
The Transgo kit installed is probably the best bang for the buck for A4's out there. The kit is a remarkable improvement in your shifts, especially if you have an aftermarket converter.
The shift kit costs about $109.00 and is available at several CF vendors. I got mine at www.theLAPD.com from Shawn. The kit has 3 settings-street,street/strip and race. The kit should be installed by a QUALIFIED transmission technician, not just anybody that hasn't installed one before. The install should cost $150-$200.
Search the C5 Tech Discussions for ALL the related psts on this subject for more info on this subject.MANY have installed this kit with great results.

Well, the Transgo kit is fantastic. Mine doesn't "bang" into gear. It is a very fast, crisp shift. It'll plant you in the seat. $600.00 seems way too high. As stated above, $109.00 for the kit, and around $200.00 for the install.

Had it done in Jupiter at a place called All Transmissions. The guy that runs the place, Billy Ray, is an old hot rodder. Well, not that old, he's about 5 years older than me. I keep forgetting I'm forty. He's done tons of the Transgo and B&M kits.
Anybody have any recommendations to install this kit in the Los Angeles/Pasadena Calif area? I would really like to get one of these kits installed. Thanx Jeff
Transgo recommends that - YES - you "should" remove Torque Management via some sort of programming...
Thanks, I was afraid of that :mad I thought I might get lucky since I have read of a few problems with different software, Mine is a daily driver and I don't know if I can risk having her down because of software problems :(

Please keep in mind that they "recommend" this, and they also have a smaller diameter kit for use "with" torque management.. Give'em a call and let them advise you for the best descision.. :yesnod:
