Default Need Help in the Clutch (literally)!

Capt. Mike from Naples won't have access to his PC for a few days. So, I am posting this for him. Capt. Mike has a 2000 Nassau Blue hardtop. (Keep an eye out for a future artical in Corvette Fever)

Mike bought a GM 2002 Z06 clutch package (clutch, flywheel, pressure plate) and took it to the Chevy dealership for installation. The Chevy dealership installed the package and it turns out that the clutch won't disengage all the way. The dealership says that the application of a 2002 Z06 clutch package is not appropiate for a 2000 car.

Mike spoke with the vendor/seller of the GM 2002 clutch package who says that he has had numerous sales to people with 2000 cars.

Mike runs nitrous and even though the original problem for taking the car in was unrelated, the dealership is giving him a hard time and perhaps they are using "inappropriate" application as an excuse.

Does anyone have any experience with this swap? Could bleeding help? Has anyone done this and know how.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

The dealership is full of BS. the 2002 clutch will work in a 2000 with out a problem and it works very well.

I will be installing one soon.

A friend and fellow racer, Ernie King, has one in his Nassau Blue Hardtop.

Bleeding is most important and so is a new slave unit. Did they change that, too?

Good luck to Capt. Mike. Clutch problems are hell.

I've installed a number of 2002 zo6's in diferrent year c5s..never a problem. I'd say you may have to re-bleed the system. Did you replace the slave? Always a good time to due so. As far as not being appropiate.... :bs

Like the guys have said...there should be no problems with the upgrade. I've got an '01 kit in my car and it works fine.

Yeah, I would check the clutch fluid. You did replace the slave cylinder I hope...

Thanks for the info. Yes, they did replace the slave. I guess the suggestion of re-bleeding is the next logical step.

I'll let Mike know tonite (Sun 12/16).

Thanks again.
