Default HVAC Temp Control ****

Yesterday the drivers side temp control quit working. When turned either up or down it remains at 74 degrees. Any ideas on the steps to take to diagnose the problem. Checked for codes. None.

Thats what mine does. After many turns it will drop only one degree to 73. Hope we can get this diagnosed. At least for now being stuck at 74 is better than 94.

PM nascar57, he was working on a unit that was doing this and it turned out to be the adjustment pot was bad. He was searching for a replacement part and I'm not sure if he was succesful or not...

There are a couple of EBay vendors that offer a repair srevice on the HVAC for under $50...

I would like to find out what's going on as well, something's fishy if this many are going bad, assuming it is indeed the pots.

Thanks for the info on this. I was thinking I might have to take this one to the dealer. The HVAC service on Flea-Bay, how does that work. Do you mean you send in your head unit and they repair? I was hoping all along it was isolated to just the one adjustment switch. I'm glad all our symptoms are exactly the same, should be able to solve everyone problem at once very soon. I will try to contact Nascar 57 hoping to get more info.

Nascar 57 your post came up while I was typing. Please keep me informed, and I will keep researching, too.

I believe it's a core, so you won't be without one... You'd have to check to be sure though... I couldn't find the guys I was talking about on EBay, These guys are new, I don't know about them and no core but a one day turn around:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-98...spagenameZWDVW

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-98...spagenameZWDVW

BUT they only fix the following;

The display works intermittently
The display is very dim,
The readout display is completely dead
The functions work intermittently
Totally no response of any functions
REPLACE BULBS
Tested in car and functional tester
Free support
May work when it is cold outside

If your Vette is still under warranty go for it! If not forget get it!!!! Too damn exspensive! I have a fried unit here too. If anyone is wondering nascar and I do the LED mod and dim display fix and we're starting to get to know these little PITA things pretty good. Now the Radio is a different story, we just make it pretty!

I contacted the one e-bay vendor with a phone #. The piece that is bad in my climate control unit is non-repairable. Can either purchase a rebuilt from him for $100 or new one for $200. Thanks for all the help everyone. Looks pretty easy to pull the old one, any thing I need to know.

Not a bad price really... especially if he's offering a warranty as well. Nothing special about pulling the unit, Vette Essential's website has a good write-up on removing it.
