Just noticed my Delco is leaking, just like mentioned many times before, under my '+'ve terminal. Enough acid leaked out to leave a small puddle so I'll have to ask them to check underneath to make sure the BCM or other electronics weren't touched. I assume they'll replace it with an AGM.
Seems like the cold weather brought on a number of leaking batteries in the NJ area. Although mine didn't, I did go ahead and get me a "red top." Installed it Saturday and now have peace of mind. BTW, Optima will send you a free battery cover (I chose red, may also come in yellow) upon request of their customer service dept.@800-292-4359, Ext. 469
Just got it replaced this morning under warrantee. The leak was continuing bad enough that I figured it couldn't wait a day or two.
They did replace it with the AGM (Delco Part #78P-7YR). When I asked them which battery they would use, they couldn't tell me whether it would be the AGM or standard Lead Acid, but it looks like the standard C5 replacement battery is now the AGM.
I asked them to also check for damage under the battery and there doesn't appear to be any. I opened up the wheel well slightly last night to check myself and it looks like the acid was dripping down along the side of the cavity.
