Default Torque Converter Question

What is the difference in 3000 stall with 2.0 STR vrs 3500 stall with 1.65 STR mean on the 1/4 mile time. How about if I plan on heads and cam in the future which is the better one and why?

Would be close.
Depends what tires you have.

If you stay with 3.15, go with the 3000, if you want the 3500, get 3.42 or 3.73 gears as well.

The higher the STR, the harder the launch will be!

The 2.0 just multiplies the torque that many times and the 1.65 multipies it 1.65 times, about. The lower the str the easier it is to get traction as the launch will be softer. I have used a SY3500 and it was easy on the launch.

I currently use a ST3500 with a 2.5 str and it launches very hard, but I use it for the strip and it does well. For the street, stay with the SY3500. With BFG DR I have cut 1.61-1.64 60's all day using the ST 3500.

Ditto that!

SY 3500 for the street
ST 3500 for the track

I love my Vig 2800 (2,5 Str.) on the track!!!!

What Yank told me is there is a little bit of a trade with 3rd gear pull when you go with a higher STR. Higher STR-Lose a little pull in 3rd, but a harder, faster launch.
I decided to go with a Yank 3200, which has a STR of 2.1. It gets installed this week. I'll post my testing after. Eric

Just remember, the higher the STR, the more traction you need when you leave the line. The SY3500 is an awesome street converter that also behaves rather well on the track, especially with 3.42 gears.

If you are interested in very competitive pricing on any YANK products, shoot me an email. We have a SY3500 in stock ready to go.

That´s correct.

For this reason I installed a lockup switch and gained another 2 tents.

Hmmm, Lock up switch. Sounds like the next thing for me to do. How hard of an install? Eric

You won't need that with the Yank you are getting, trust me.

Thanks 2000C5 . I just thought, maybe the PCM programming will already include this.

Yes, 2000C5 is right.

You wíll NOT need a lockup switch on an SY 3500.
That TC is very effective!!!
