2001 Won't Start
My 2001 Convertible will not start and run every time. When I turn the key, the engine 'catches' and then immediately dies. Sometimes it happens 10 times before it finally runs, sometimes 2 or 3 times, sometimes it starts immedialetly. It dies so quick that the gauges don't even start their 'sweep'. I've had it at the dealership three times in the last 10 days. They have seen the car refuse to run, but when they attach the scan tool, it starts and runs every time! The dealership says that they cannot even start to find the problem until they get an error code out of the scan tool. Of course, since it always runs when the tool is attached, there is no error code. They say it is just a coincidence that it runs when the tool is attached. Any ideas?

I am new at this, so I am sure I am wrong. But I do recall something like that while I was car shopping. I went for a test drive an earlier model C5 (99) that had a dead batter. After the car was jump started, everytime the salesman placed car in gear the car would die. One of the tech claim it was caused by the security system and told us to wait for a bit before we try to re-start and that solved the problem for us.
