Tranny Type

I've been trying to learn about all things 'Vette before I make a purchase of one and I was wondering where a guy can acquire something that details the car.

What I'm looking for specifically is a shop-manual I guess, but if there's anything else written by the aftermarket with C5s in mind that deals more around performance, that'd be good too.

Topic of study this week: Exactly what transmission layout does the C5 have. I've heard conflicting stories of what it is. Need info!!
