Thats because the lower part of the insulater is not the same as the one on the C5. Put the C5 insulators on, problem solved.
Agree, put C6Z06 Shocks on two years ago. You have to resue the rear shock grommets/insulators. The C6 ones are too big for a C5 installation. Order a set from Gene Culley. You want new ones anyhow since you are upgrading the shocks.
Also, if you go that route make sure you order 2007/2008 shocks, Chevy made some changes for a better ride when compared to 2005 though 2006.
The C6 Z06 shocks are 1/4" less in lenght compressed than the C5 shocks. I measured them when I did the install on my vert. Actually a benefit for lowered car.

When changing to the C6 shocks, I did not change the insulator and also did not have any difference in ride height.
The C6 shocks are shorter even with the C6 rear insulator/plate on them. I compressed both. I would have guessed close about 1/2" difference. Too hard to hold both shocks compressed and a tape at the same time. Sure seemed like more than 1/4". Fronts were about the same amount shorter to the place where the bushing hits the frame mount.
At any rate, the C6 shocks will bolt on as they arrive. The only parts you don't get are the top bushing and washer for the front shocks.
Thanks Lionel!! What did you use for the internal bump stops?? The ones that can with the shocks, originals, etc?? I have Bilstein sports right now and they are too long for my lowered car with base suspension. Do you remember how much the C6Z shocks were??
