i have an 02 6 speed and was wondering what cam to use.
the car will have magnaflow cat back, kooks headers a high flow cats or the like, vortex intake, carbon fibre air bridge ported throttle body,
ls6 manifold and diablo sport tune. (stock ls1 heads)
How much difference would a ls6 cam make?
Now do i just put a ls6 cam in it or is there something a little better that will match my set up and will still be nice to drive and not need custom tune.
Oh and where do i get a ported throtle body and which one is the best one to get and what are they worth.
Thanks.

Reason: extra info
A cam will change the characteristics of the car, sometimes in ways you don't like. I would suggest reading up on cam design to better enable you to make a decision. Here's a good read to get you started: Link
for all the work that is involved i dont think its worth it. i would go with something a little bigger
An LS6 cam would be a waste of your time and $$. There are several "sleeper" cams available that provide much more horsepower and torque while providing "stock-like" idle and driveability.

Even the old school 224/224 on xer lobes 114 lsa would work. since your m6 i'd would go with a 228/228 on a 114
Here's my recommendation based on my very favorable experiences with this shop, which has made all my custom cam grinds for my vette: call Allan at Futral Motorsports and order a FM-F5-114 (224"/228" .588"/.576" 114). Mike
the 224/228 how do you find drivability and idel. Do you needa cusom tune for this cam to run right?
You will want a tune regardless of the cam you select in order to maximize the performance of the new cam, etc. The adjustments will likely be very minor. Complete your forum profile so we can recommend shops in your area for you talk to. Mike
I am in Australia, and the 02 6 speed vert i bought plus all the parts should be getting loaded in a shipping container befor the end of the month.
What i have so far is the car, vortex intake carbon air bridge and diablo sport tuner.
I will be purchasing long tube headers just not sue which ones to get yet , kooks, LG's or melrose???? and what size 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 with high flow cats and what size x pipe 2 1/2 or 3 inch.
I also plan on purchasing magnaflow cat back exhaust ported throttle body and a Cam.
Any helpful info would be great.
Will the diablo sport tune be sufficient for this set up and cam. I know a custom tune would be better but not possible at the moment.
There are several members from Australia on this forum. I recommend the 1 3/4" headers - all the brands you listed are very good. PM Ed Hutchings at edcmat-l1 re: tuning recommendations for this cam and your setup using the Diablo handheld sport tuner. Also check on www.ls1tech.com too. You can purchase a "mail order" tune as another option. Good luck.

Aloha gave u pretty good advice and so others, LG street headers are more than enough for ur application since ur not pushing more than 450 Rwhp, and they are top notch quality and cheap too.
So get the most populer cam and get a mail order tune from many tuners here on board, like ECS, Charlie from California, .....many others do that, or buy whole Cam package deal from supporting vendor/tuner and get mail order tune as well from same person. Good luck. Oh u can type BADMFR in search function in car sale section and he has a video clip of his Z06 with 224/228 Cam and AFR heads, pretty sick ride.
Just a Cam kit with all required bolts, gaskets UD pulley (optional but why not since u already there).....should not cost u more than $1500 USD, Expect another roughly $1000 +/- a little for installation if u r not doing urself.

Thanks Guys for all the help and advice, I will definately be looking into some of the options mentioned.
I will be doing the install myself once i have the car registered and emissions tests have been done.
