I took my 1998 vette into the dealership with a "BELT NOISE" and they told me that it was the Harmonic Balancer pulley. When I picked the car up and started to drive away I noticed that my brakes were "PULSATING"!!
I took the car back and they told me that they had to remove the ABS module so they could get to the Harmonic Balancer.
What could have possibly happened to the ABS module to make my brakes PULSATE??
I have no error codes on the DIC and they cant seem to find the problem with the ABS system. They do not want to replace the ABS module because it is very expensive.Do I have a bad ABS module or could it be something else?? PLEASE HELP!!

Hmmm, I don't think removing the ABS module is necessary to pull the harmonic balancer. If they did remove it they would need to rebleed it properly with a Tech 2.

Let me understand this. You didn't have the pulsating problem when you dropped it off. But you had the pulsating problem when you picked it up.
Sounds to me like they need to take care of the problem (even know it might be a hard fight to win).
only warped rotors(overheating) will cause pulsating brakes. Either you pulled into the dealership at 100+mph and overheated the brakes when you parked,,,or,,,more than likely, a tech or other dealer goon took your car for one hell of a beat run and did it. Good luck proving it-dont give in :cuss
Re: Has anyone experienced this problem?? (SILVER~C5)
When I apply the brakes they only pulsate for about 1 SECOND, and during that time you can hear the ABS system trying to activate!
The dealership says that it is the rear brake ABS sensors being activated for no apparent reason.
They actually told me that it could be that my rear tires are worn out more that the front tires and the ABS system is noticing a difference in wheel speed!! If that was the case, wouldn't it have been doing that before I brought the car in for service??
Re: Has anyone experienced this problem?? (carpe dm)
I just got off the phone with the Service Manager and he told me that they did not actually remove that ABS module but rather just the ELECTRONIC connector that plugs into the ABS module.
They also told me that my battery seems to have a LOW VOLTAGE!!
The battery was fine when I took my car in for service!! The GREEN light indicator in the battery is now BLACK!!!
Could they have shorted something out when they removed the ABS module connector??

Bummer, but not unusual. Probably had the doors, hood, radio, etc. open and on numerous times. The OEM batteries are not well thought of in the Corvette community and most would suggest you get an Optima. If it is under warrantee, ask for a new one first. Good luck!
