I've decided I'd like to upgrade my stock shifter to a "short throw" version. I'm unsure which would be "better". I've located the Hurst version for $189.95 and the B&M for $260.95 and states a 30% shorter throw than stock. The Hurst does not make any statement regarding throw. Can someone give me a suggestion from personal experience? All I'd like to accomplish is get a tighter, shorter throw than stock. I don't bring it to the track or anything so racing/competition is not one of the goals. Thanks so much for any help. Regards, John

Thanks Chris for the heads up on the MGW shifter. It looks nice, well-built and is competitively priced. I am now trying to decide about the shift ****. I've seen all aluminum, although I don't think I will like the feel of that. I've seen plastic smooth, like a billiard ball. Not quite sure I would like that either. The one offered at MGW in satin may work best. It has overall appeal and looks OE. Any experience with ***** you would like to share? Thanks again for the info Regards, John
I love the B&M Ripper with the Anti-Venom mod. I heard good things about the MGW but I really don't see how it can be any better than a B&M?
I suppose in the end it comes down to preference and experience. I'm just trying to collect as much info/experience from others. I'm trying not to spend a couple hundred bucks and then not be happy with it. Although, I'm sure any of these would be much "better" than stock. That MGW design is rather eccentric, two-piece C5 or C6 and such.

The Dirlan has a nice feel but I would imagine the MGW race **** would be more comfortable.

I know the new B&M is also a 2 piece shifter. I don't have any experience with the MGW but I love the height and feel of the B&M.
Does anyone know if the MGW sits as low as the B&M? I have to admit I didn't like the real stiff feeling of the B&M until I did the Anti-Venom mod which took no more than 15 minutes to do.
I really like the streamlined look of the Dirlan ****. It is more like a rod. I may end up trying a few ***** to get the feel I like. I generally like things simple and streamlined. The Dirlan option covers that! I'll have to google that and see what comes up. That is really growing on me quickly

I feel exactly the same way as you. Have you checked out the MGW race **** yet?, very clean looking ****.
The big complaint members have about all the aftermarket shifter is the notchy feeling. With the Anti-Venom mod it gets rid of the tough
shifting.

I found the **** at Corvette Garage, it's actually spelled Delrin. It is priced right and simply looks awesome! If it feels half as good as it looks I'll be in good shape. As I said earlier, I may have to try a **** or two to get the look/feel I'm after. Thanks so much for the picture. Your picture is much nicer that the one on Corvette Garage website. I'm so glad I posted and you guys responded. It seems I've got my shifter and **** setup decision done Now...where is my credit card?

Good luck and make sure to post some pics once you get them on.
Just to let you know, there are a few different Delrin ***** out there, short ones, long ones, ones with labels, ect.
Yeah..checked the MGW ****. I think I've settled in with the Delrin as my first option for ****. I see... point taken as far as the notchy issue. How is this Anti-Venom mod available? Is it only an upgrade option to a B&M shifter? If so, I suppose going with B&M shifter gives the option of Venom upgrade if I don't like the feel. I googled this Anti-Venom mods and info is rather vague. Thanks again..lots of great info.

Do a search on this site. All you need to purchase is 2 copper washers.
Great! Thanks so much! I found in-depth info on the mod. I'll plan on doing that after the shifter install if I feel it is rather notchy. I feel I've settled in with the MGW shifter and the Delrin ****. Thanks so much again for your info and time. I'll post pics when it's all over. Regards, John
Well I was very impressed with the complete kit I got from MGW. The install went smooth. I did have to trim the stock leather boot to get the Delrin **** to screw on. I am pleased with the install and like the feel of the **** so far. I'll see how it shifts tomorrow on my ride to work. I thank you both for the input and advice :-) Regards, John
I realize your post is about the Hurst and B&M, but I have to say that the MGW is definitely top notch and I just installed mine and the 1-2 shift is great!
I couldn't help but just mention that B&M makes one hell of a shift kit for the A4 crowd out there that accidently jumps into this MN6 thread. I have the Stage II set up on mine and it chirps tires like no one's business.

I got Hurst because they advertised the biggest reduction in throw. I use no springs and have the anti-venom mod. The only improvement I would like is less side-to-side effort, and I don't see how a different shifter design could provide that except by using a longer throw. Can you be specific about why you like the MGW better than the Hurst?
Well I got about 600 miles since the shifter install. I am certainly pleased with the improvement in overall driving experience. I will have to agree with another poster. The shifter is rather stiff side to side. This means 5th 6th and Reverse require a little more effort than before. I suspect another shift **** may improve that. However I am not willing to give up the Delrin **** I have. It provides a nice overall look and feel. See my pic in previous post above. This, as well as other shifters require a little learning curve and getting used to. I'm pleased with the overall quality of the shifter.
