I recently attended an open track day at Hallett, in Oklahoma. The car is a stock '99 FRC, 1.5 degree negative camber and new BFG G-Force KD tires. The track has several high speed left-hand sweepers.
Even though the tire pressure was at 39 pounds, the right front tire had rolled over on the sidewall for about 2 inches...not what you want to see. Questions:
1) Is 1.5 degrees negative camber about the most the alignment will allow? That's the most my guy said he could get.
2) The tire felt sloppy and appeared to roll over a bit on a low speed auto-x this weekend. Could it be a bad belt? It does not seem to pull to either side.
3) If the tire seems to be OK, do you think it is safe to take the pressure up to 41 or 42 pounds? The next high speed day at Hallett is one timed lap at a time so heat build-up should not be an issue.
I use to run BF Goodrich g-Force KD tires when I first began HPDE and use to keep them at 32 psi cold - approx. 38 psi hot. I think you might have too much air pressure - I don't think you want to exceed 40 psi hot. The negative 1.5 camber up front is fine and likely not a contributing factor - but curious to know your front and rear castor and toe settings - and rear camber. I think its something in your alignment. Mike
