Is it possible to change the "on" temps for the cooling fans on a 99?
I was sitting in traffic today and watched the temps skyrocket B4 the fans came on. I'd like them to come in the 200F range, not the 212-220+ factory settings. Can this be adjusted in the computer?
It can but you will need some sort of tuning software. The oldest C5 I have used my V1 EFILive with is a 2000 but I think it will work on a 99. You can set the on/off temps for both fans no problem.
The other option is the Vinci fan switch. Its adjustable and brings both fans on at low speed at the same time. Mine are currently set to 207 on. They shut off 7 degrees below the on temp.
The other option is the $39 Hayden fan electronic fan switch from Pep Boys, which is the same as the Vinci. For install instructions, goto the corvetteforum.com home page, click on the "Other" tab at the top, then click on "Tech Tips", then "C5", and look a the "C5 Fan Controller" write-up.

As the others have written, yes you can change you fan on - off temperatures.
I have a Ron Davis Racing radiator and a Vinci Hi-Performance 170 degree F thermostat, which stabilizes the coolant at 185 to 187 degrees. With that setup, I turn both of my fans on High at 196 degrees F and turn them both off at 189 degrees F.
