A Brief synopsis of my recent electrical issues. I had water leaking into my passenger compartment from the clogged condenser drain. Lost functionality of key fob, doors, no start, etc. Went through the list of checklists, dried out computer, found a bad fuse replaced it. Everything works fine. The only thing remaining are two codes.

BO-RFA U1196 H
B0-RFA U1016 H

I just changed to new wheels and new sensors and I cannot get them to learn. I believe that this is related to the above referenced codes. I did clear all history codes but these do not clear. I understand that even though they are "H" codes, it could mean that there is an intermitent problem. I am thinking that there may be another blown fuse, but I am not sure which would correlate. Everything is working fine, seat memory, windows, radio, mirrors etc.

I'm stumped.

As you say the U codes are set when modules are not communicating via the serial bus. Often they set for a power glitch or if you pull the battery. Normally you can easily and safely clear them. Strange that an H code wont clear yet no C code is set?

The RFA is the Remote Function Actuator and is the RF receiver that takes the signals from the Tire Pressure Sensors and the fobs and transmits the signal to the PCM. The U1016 is telling you that the RFA was not communicating with the PCM at some time, although the fault is intermittent.

When you're setting the TPSs is the sequence going normally? If you're just not getting the beep as the sensor trys to re-program, are you using a big enough magnet? Did you get the correct sensors for your year Vette? The older TPSs work at a different frequency. The 2000 Vette had the old sensors (part #10438853) which are the more expensive type ($80+)

Can't find the U1196 I'm afraid, although U1096 is loss of comms with the IPC.

I'm certainly no guru but maybe Bill Curlee can explain?

Are your key fobs working to LOCK/UNLOCK the car ???

Can you get the DIC to the message to program the first TPMS ???

If the answer to either of those is yes .... your problem is either the sensors, or the magnet you are using isn't big enough to trigger them.

As DeeGee asked, are they the correct sensors for your car ???

Yes, key fobs work correctly. When starting the sensor training sequence, I can't get the left front to recognize, so I can't get thru the sequence at all. My next step is to get a bigger magnet. I spoke with the wheel rep. (very reputable forum vender) and the sensors are for the correct year. I was under the impression that the loss of communication errors may be why the sensors won't learn. But I may be putting the chicken before the egg. I will be trying a bigger magnet to see if that works.

The loss of comms errors have nothing to do with the sensors. If the RFA, the computer/radio that receives the tiire sensor signals, wasn't working then your key fobs wouldn't work either.

Sometimes in life .... bigger is better .....
