I had this same problem on my '99 for a long time. Did the Techron thing and it does indeed help, but never a bunch of different treatments all at the same time though. I think I was getting code 1431 but don't hold me to that number now please. Anyway, I found on GM's TIS website that they had a computer firmware upgrade to solve the issue with the right tank sending unit. Supposedly its a calibration change for the sensor. Anyway, I had all of the firmware/software upgraded to the latest and greatest from GM and the problem with the tank going to zero, went away.

You guys are awesome! I just purchased a 2000 Coupe (my first Vette!) and after driving from Vegas, back to Canada, five minutes from my house, the gage dropped to E after just saying that I had a range of 200 miles. I believe this happened with just over a quarter tank of fuel left. Boo-urns. I filled the car to see if it was the gage or the sending unit, and it came back up to full. Not knowing what the was wrong, I found this thread and thanks to everyone here, hopefully I can diagnose and fix the problem. Thanks everyone, I'll see how it goes.

I solved my problem when the fuel pump went and I replaced the entire unit with a new one. No problems now, but it was a plague before that no amount of addatives fixed.

I knew the end was near though because my pump was whining like a *****.

My 2002 has 22,000 miles. I have to use a bottle of Techron on every 3rd tank of gas to prevent the gas gage from going to empty. I only use Chevron gas as well.
