Default Need help and advice with abs problem,Please

I know this has been covered extensively and I have read all the post by Bill Curlee, BlackZ06 and Trussme. The first time my abs/traction control lights came on it was showing the code C1233H. I pulled the right front wheel off and checked the plug and it was clean and dry. I cleared the code and the next time I drove the car the lights came on and it showed C1232H,C1233H C1220H and C1248H.

I took the car ( a 2002,A4 ) to a local Chevrolet dealership where they ran a diagnostic check on it and determined that it was an internal fault in the EBCM. They wanted $1800.00 to replace it. I came home and did a search on here and found all the great information about cleaning the grounds.

I checked the grounds on both sides of the engine compartment, took them apart and they were clean. I scraped the paint off of the frame where they connect and put them back on. I disconnected the plug to the EBCM and blew it out with air.The car is kept in my shop with a de-humidifier running so everything was clean and dry.

Well, none of that helped. The lights still came on the next time I drove the car.

OK,So I read on here about absfixer. I sent Brandon an e-mail about the problem I was having and the codes it was showing and asked if he thought he could fix it. He replied back that those were not the typical codes that he repairs but he would look at it if I wanted him to.

I sent the module to him and he repaired it and sent it back. I put it back on and went for a test drive. I didn't get two miles before the abs/traction control lights came on. It is showing code C1233H. I'm sure the other codes will reappear as I drive the car more. I read on here where the wheel speed sensors rarely go bad.

Does anyone have any ideas or advice on what I should do now?..Thanks

While the speed sensor connector may be clean and dry, the plugs have a tendancy to loosen internally inside the connector. Bill Curlee has adressed the problem and solution in either his electrical thread at the top of the page or in this thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1387486

Thanks for responding. I took the plugs back apart and spread the female prongs a little bit so they would make better contact. I went for another ride and the same thing happened. The lights came on within the first two miles. The car only has 30,000 miles on it and I hate to put new wheel bearing hubs on it if I don't really need to. It is still showing the C1233H code.

I know you said you blew out the EBCM connector but did you check the leads coming from the right front wheel sensor at the EBCM end of the harness and also on the EBCM itself??

No, I haven't done that. Do you mean check them for loose connections?

Your going to need to check E V E R Y female connector in the ABS System for poor connections. Looking at the connector will NOT tell you if it is bad. Ant female pin bet it ground power or a signal circuit can be at fault.
Your going to need to find a male electrical pin the same size as the one in the connector that plugs into the female pin that your testing. Insert the male pin into female pin and see if it has the correct tension. If you have to FORCE it in and force it out,,,,,your all set! If it just goes in without much effort or none at all,,,,,,that could be part of your issue.

Remember,,when you turn the ignition ON,,,it resets all the EBTCM Disgnostics and starts the diagnostic test over. If you have a speed sensor problem, it will take a few seconds or longer before the system detects a fault.

Hey Bill, thanks for taking a look and offering your advice. I'm starting to suspect the main plug that goes into the EBCM. Before I took it to the dealer it was showing four codes. After I got it back from them it was showing only three and now that I've gotten it back from Brandon its only showing one. I'm going to check all the plugs and grounds again. Thanks again and thanks to everyone who responded.

I thought the SAME thing and the issue turned out to be a BAD female pin in the PASSENGERS SIDE main harness connection locater on the frame near the lower control arm.

Changed that and HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!
