There are posts where people have removed the boot from the body and door, and carefully pulled the wiring harnesses out so they could clean the contacts on the connectors. Therefore, you should be able to pull the wiring harnesses out and disconnect them, slip the old boot off and the new boot on without having to remove any other panels.
Thanks, I lost 2 points on the last car show for that piece. Looked like that from day one, I must have gotten a dud from the factory. It is all white"ish" on the outside. Humm. Lithium grease maybe?

Try this:
Get a can of BRAKE PARTS CLEANER,,,remove the rubber accordion tube, spray it well and rub the old oxidized rubber off of it with an old rag. I bet it will clean right up. Then just spray some WD-40 on it to polish it off. Once the WD-40 evaporates, I bet it will look like new.
