Default Coupe Top

I bought my '02 vette used and it’s my first.
On the release for the top (the one in the center back side) I think is missing a rubber stop or something. I have to use my key or something to get it away from the roof. I went to the dealer Friday and the parts guy said he didn't see one on the schematic. But something must go there to hold it away far enough to get a finger under it to pull it down.
So my question – is there a stop of some sort? Does anyone know a part number since the dealer hasn’t a clue?

I assume the latch is the same as on my '99. You should be pushing upwards on the small square part of the latch (located towards the front of the car) to release it. It is spring loaded and the latch will snap downwards when you push on it.

Well I guess I'll have to find out if the spring can be replaced it doesn't pop out like you mentioned I have to help it with something to get it away from the roof. Thanks
