My rears have HPS printed on them. I can't read the fronts without taking them out of the calipers.
Well, the fronts were HPS as well.
I put a set of Raybestos QS pads on when I installed my new Bilstein Sport Shocks. They work great for daily driving. Good bite and feel when used sparingly, and almost no dust. They do however fade badly under severe use. I took my car up in the canyons to test out the new shocks and brakes. The QS pads did fine until I pushed them. After 4-5 hard stops, they didn't even have enough friction left to invoke the ABS system. They did seem to recover quickly though.
My Conclusion:
I will have to change the pads for track and serious canyon days. I guess it's true; you can have low dust or fade resistance but not both!
For Hawk it's all relative; compared to Black or Blue compound they are low dusting and easy on the rotors. If you were expecting less dust than OE I can understand your disappointment. They're pretty dirty street pads.
Would recommend GM or Raybestos ceramic pads for low dusting.
PS: as with any brake pad, dusting differences between different owners can often be traced to how aggressive their braking is; the harder you press on the pedal, the more dust you'll generate.

Re: Question on Hawk HPS Pads (TeamZ06)
If you are not racing go with raybestos from pep boys. I have yet to see a race pad that does not dust bad. If you do track events change them out. I switch rotors and pads in matched sets. The dust sucks!
