Default C6 Zo6 shock help

I can not seem to get the new rear shocks in, I can get the old ones in and out but not the Z06 shocks. Do I need to compress the rear ones also to get them in or remove the tie rod?

Thanks.

I compressed mine and held them in the compressed state by using a couple of heavy duty zip-ties. They went in easy....just took a few minutes for each side.

I am considering upgrading my 99 FRC shocks to the C6 Z06 shocks, but I have a question. On the monthly specials from our supporting vendor, the C5 Z06 shocks are much more expensive than the C6 Z06 shocks. Does anyone know why this is?

a. C5 Corvette tax?
b. More C5's
c. More C5 shocks needed because of miles on old ones.
d. New C6's don't need shocks yet when they do the price will go up
e. All the above
My .02 cents

Don't know, no one has come up with a good reason for the price difference except that they may be made offshore...

The C5Z shocks are made by Sachs in Germany. C6Z shocks are of unknown origin .... Mexico .... China ????

Depends on what you want them for.

If pure performance and handling is your goal (you are taking the car to the race track for road course events) then the 2004 C5Z are the best choice.

If you are buying them for daily driving or "street" handling, then the C6 shocks are the better side of the price/performance equation.

I just want to replace the stock 90K mile shocks on my 99 FRC. No road racing, and I already think the car handles like its on rails, so I am 99% there on the C6ers. Thanks

I have them and they were great!
BTW the price for 4 when I got them 2yrs ago when they first came out was $174 so.... shocker the price has already gone up!

They did equally as much for my car as the z06 sway bars

As a matter of fact the price probably just shot up $20 after this thread.

Get them and enjoy a good deal and great product.
The shocks were Identical to the sachs and didn't see made in china, mexico or canada anywhere on it. It just bolted right up.

Basically the difference in price is more than likely contract negotiation. I've seen this happen time and time again. No one can really tell the difference between the 04's and 08's on the road so you might as well get the 08's!
