I want to try to clean the check valve on the drivers side as I am getting the P1415 code. The rubber air hose is attached to the valve with a plastic clamp. How do you remove this clamp ---- or is the only way to get it off is be cutting it off and replacing it with a metal screw clamp.
OK --- Here is an update. I ordered anothe skip shift eliminator, this time from ZIP products and installed it. Now no P0803 codes anymore. I am still getting the P1415 code back each time after I clear this code so sopmething is definately wrong here. I may try the Gumout and WD40 spray but what's holding me back is concern that that stuff may harm the O2 sensors or the Catalytic Converter.
Further up-date. Still getting the P1415 code. That means problems with bank 1 (drivers side). Since that exhaust check valve is easily accessable, I took off the valve and inspected it and tested it. The valve is fine (note, the car only has 2,900 miles on her). Then I started the car up to see how strong the stream of air was coming from the air pump --- barely a mild breeze. So the problem is with the air flow from the pump ---- but I am NOT getting a P1416 code to indicate problems with the other side ---- so is it possible there is sufficient air flow from the pump to one side but not to the other when all the air comes from just one pump? This suggests there is a blockage somewhere in the piping going to bank 1. I really doubt this, but if I have time tomorrow, I will disconnect the rubber hose at the pump, start the car up and check the air flow coming directly from the pump, and that should give me a better idea of what's what. Anybody have any suggestions or similar experience here?
That 1416 code just came up and my '01 and thanks to this forum and some WD-40, I'm code free! P.S. I was coming back from the pistol range when that code poped up, thanks to you guys I didn't have to use "Plan B" - a Kimber 1911 / 45 ACP!!
