I am new to the corvette game and plan on buying a ported throttle body. I have heard different things about manifolds for my LS1. what do you suggest to get the best HP for the lowest $$? thanks!

It will all depend on the supporting mods, or future mods. The LS6 intake is easily affordable and will help with future upgrades, and they can be found quite easily on here.

Welcome to the Forum!

What model year is your car? I would recommend that you take time to update your Forum user profile with your car's model year, type (coupe, vert, FRC, Z06), mods and any other pertinent info. This info would greatly benefit others here when attempting to answer your questions and assist you.

Good luck with the mods!

IMHO,
You have 2 options.

LS6 intake. This will fit your 97 fine and give a great base for future light mods. You can purchase new for around $550 or used for ~$300 in the parts section. Be careful buying off of ebay, since some unscrupulous people sell LS1's as LS6's. Make sure you get a casing number and verify that it is indeed an LS6.

FYI, all LS1 engines starting in 01 had the LS6 intake.

Second option is to just go the the grand-daddy of all intakes and get the FAST 92. Will cost quite a bit more but may be worth it in the long run. (FAST 92 is ~$750, plus you'll need the 92mmTB to go with it ~550?). You will gain a few HP, but if you mod signifigantly in the future, you'll gain far more than the LS6 would be able to provide.

Basically, your planning for the future if you purchase a FAST intake today.

There are some other intakes, but don't bother with them. LS2's are garbage. Weilands are aluminum and heat soak like a mother, etc.
