You need to "comlpetly disconnect" the RTD Module in the rear compartment drivers side storrage well from the system and "THEN" delete the RPO Code with the TECH II. If the BCM detects the the module, it will turn the codes back on and flash that message. With the module out of the system, you should be good to go. Make sure all the connectors going to or coming from the module are disconnected.
Hope you can convince the GM guy with the tech II that he didnt do it correctly the first time and get him to do the procedure again.
I did completely disconnect it. There are three plugs for the module, all are disconnected. The tech is super cool, he said he got his $88, so if I need more changes just drop by and he'll give me more time. We went back in and looked, the RPO code is still gone, and there are no error codes present anywhere. The car is still trying to protect me from myself.
I had another thought.. What if it is a bit confused? Maybe I should try something like re-enabling F-45, starting it up and allowing the thing to throw the service ride control codes, clearing the codes with the Tuner II, then re-removing the RPO code?
Dunno, just a thought. It's either that, or the dealer I bought it from said he'd take it back, but that's a 7 hour drive one way and it would be back to searching for another car.
I dug around some more and found a post that said it had to be done in the key off position. It was done in the key-on position. So, I'm thinking the best bet would be to hook the ESC back up so it gets the correct error codes, take it back, disconnect it, and have him do his thing with the key in the off position.
