Default Cost to replace synchronizer

Last time I had my car at the track I noticed significant grinding when shifting into 4th gear. I guess it's time to look into replacing the synchronizer(s). Can anyone give me an idea how much to expect to spend to replace 4th gear synchronizer? Also, would you recommend I replace them all while the transmission is being worked on? Are their any upgrades I should consider as well?

You might be surprised to find other things wrong in the tranny. The r&r labor is expensive, so you should replace the sliders, keys, fork pads, 3/4 shift fork and put carbon blocker rings in it. then replace the slave cylinder and clutch if you haven't already. Parts and labor expect 2000-2500.

Replace your trans fluid first. You may be surprised. Since you have a 1997 with paper blocker rings, use Amsoil ATF or ATD. It stopped grinding into 6th for me.

I'm not sure I have the where-with-all to do that work myself. I will change the fluid though. That's easy enough. If that doesn't work, it looks like I'll need to break into my piggy bank.

You will be AMAZED at the difference it will make!!! It cured the same issue that I had on my 98. AMSOIL is HIGHLY recommended!!!

While your at it, make sure that you suck out all the old clutch fluid in the clutch master cyl and replace it with new. Cant Hurt!!

My triple cone blocker rings cost 500 alone. My parts ended up costing me about 1500.00 by the time all was said and done. I had to replace the output shaft and that significantly increased my cost.

Does anyone know of a high performance rebuild kit that I can buy? I found a mechanic that is willing to allow me to provide the parts. I just have no idea what parts to buy and was hoping there is a kit that provided me with everything required.

The gearbox has a corvette kit with OEM keys, OEM fork pads, rings, blockers, friction cones, and rail seals.

I just bought that same kit from them but added all billet keys, all bronze pads, and a steel 3-4 fork, and paid less than 900 delivered...
