First, see if the battery accepts a charge. If it does, and charges-up completely, then you may have something that is sapping its power. If your battery won't accept a charge, take it in (under warranty) and see if the dealer will give you a fresh AGM battery - Delco's latest and greatest leak and vibrationproof model (standard in most 01s and all 02 C5s.

Thanks for the advice, I forgot to say, I have an optima battery, and my car is way out of warrenty.
When I tried to charge it, the jumper cables got so hot, they started to melt.

I suspect you have an Optima Red Top? It goes completely dead very easy if it is drained! If so, go out and get a Yellow Top.
