NO! Sir!

Thee only way is the freon must be removed fully - Have a shop evac the system and then do another evac to remove all air in the system then have the freonre-filled to the factory specs

Thanks,Matt

Fair enough, how much might this cost for new freon and Orifice tube?

Take a look at this write up on how to properly service the A/C system ......

http://trans5.com/docs/C5%20AC%20Com...eplacement.pdf

and Freon (R12) has been banned in the US for over 10 years .... R134a is the refrigerant commonly used in cars today....

Default AC Problems

Hi, the question I have is what makes you feel as though you need to change the orifice tube. They rarely if ever go bad. The most that happens to them is they can clog, and that is usually if there has been a compressor failure. There can be restrictions in the system, but are usually caused by moisture or dirt that has gotten into the system by bad charging procedure or a leak. If this were the case than you would need to evacuate the system, repair the underlying cause, flush it out, replace the accumulator/drier, and then vacuum the system and refill with 134a and oil.
Also FYI- Freon was a brand name of R12 made by Dupont, there were other R12's made by other manufacturers, but these were usually wrongly referred to as "Freon", when what they really were was R12 made by someone other than dupont. What you use now is R134a, which can also be made by Dupont and a host of others, but should be referred to as refrigerant R134a. This is not nitpicking, as there are many other Refrigerant compositions on the market that have other numerical definitions, and you don't want to mistake these for what you need. The use of R12,(Freon and all others), was banned from general use in the US, as BlackZ06 said, years ago. It is still available to purchase , but only if you have a special liscense,(609 Certification), as a ref tech, and is discouraged by a HUGE tax which makes the cost of it prohibitive for all but the most desperate uses. And you can only find it from import sources, unless someone happens to have some of it still around in inventory. And is Illegal to work with unless you have the liscense. R134a is not illegal to obtain and work with, and can be done so by anyone. Still there are ways to work with it that are the proper practice and should be followed.
Good Luck
