Default Swapping Seats

Can I swap the passenger and driver seats on my coupe? Just the seats, not the rails and other stuff. The driver seat foam is a bit compressed, while the passenger seat is just fine. While I have them out I'll be doing the "rocking chair" fix, too.

Thanks.

Swapping the seats will put the seat belt latch and the recliner handle in useless positions. You can get new foam (all or specific pieces) from GM Partshouse at a very fair price. A hint, when replacing the bottom foam put a piece of carpet over the wires; that will prevent them from cutting into the foam again.

Thanks, Bill. I was wondering about that, myself.

Thanks, Bill! Guess I'll just hafta rebuild them with new foam. But, if it's the wires cutting into the foam, will that carpet fix work instead of rebuilding?

The other problem you have with swapping the stock seats is the seat back fabric. Each one has a cloth insert facing the console. If you swap the seats this insert will be facing the door.

I replaced the seat foam in my driver's side seat about a year ago. That did not fix the problem, and in fact, my original foam was in decent shape (the carpet/felt fix for cutting wires would have been as good as new foam).

What did fix the problem was new seat skins.

I guess they flatten out over time? A new seat bezel will help hold the outside up as well if your's is broken.

Thanks, everyone! I'll have to take them out and see what's what. There's nothing really wrong with them, just thought that swapping one side for the other would look better, and maybe be a bit more comfy for the driver. Thanks again!
