Paging C5 Tech
I am taking my 98 A4 cp in on Mon for three things. A gas smell after I drive and park it , you had advised about replacing gas tanks, seat belts getting stuck, and steering column lock. Well I just wanted to thank you again for your posts. Anything I should be concerned about ? I would like to be able to call you if my dealers Tech gets stuck, is that possible ? Your dealer should have a Kent-Moore EVAP leak checker...What this does is injects nitrogen smoke into the fuel system under pressure...Even the smallest leak will be evident due to the escaping nitrogen...This is handy because it locates leaky EVAP lines that hold fuel vapors,not raw fuel...Areas to check are the left and right fuel tank 2" crossover pipe fittings (sometimes the pipe slides off the tank necks),fuel tank sender seals,fuel tanks,and injector o ring seals...
There is a recall for the seat belt and column lock,and a recently released bulletin for those not involved in the column lock recall...
