I went to get my oil changed yesterday and a mechanic noticed my belt tensioner bent and crooked. He states I need a new one and it looks as if it is about to snap. Can anyone tell me from the pic that mine is not normal looking? How did this thing bend all on its own? I only have 40k on my car. Thanks for the help
Ps If I need one I will have to buy one. If anyone has one pm me with a price. They seem pretty inexpensive. Click on link for pic of mine.
What is the part number for the belt tensioner (97)?
I would recommend the LS2 tensioner, part number 12569301, it's the same price and it has a better pulley with higher outside flanges. A very nice upgrade that bolts right on in place of the older tensioner.

Using 12569301 in place of 12559325 may not be a good idea. There are other differences other then the pulley sides. The centerline of the pulley for 1269301 sets forward two millimeters compared to the proper pulley, 12559325. This will cause a misalignment of the belt track. There are other differences and the 12559325 is an updated part from what originally came on the car.
