What type of coolant should i be putting in my 98

You must not have an owners manual....see the "Service and Appearance" section for coolant info.

You should use Dex-Cool silicate free as per the owners manual. Just did mine today. 50/50 solution....Tim

You can buy Dex-cool pre-mixed at 50/50 ratio. Or you can mix it yourself, which is cheaper, but make sure you use de-ionized distilled water. 50/50 is the correct ratio.

Dex-Cool. Be sure to thoroughly flush your cooling system to ensure you get all traces of the older coolant out of the system. Dex-Cool is supposed to last up to 5 years / 100,000 miles, per GM, but here's the catch. It may last that long; it may not. Several mechanics have told me that while Dex-Cool is a good coolant, it can suddenly turn highly acidic after a few years and left alone, will damage most of the metal with which it comes into contact.
