Default Anyone know about sequential transmissions?

I just bought a second '99 vette. After a few months I have realized that many of the synchros are shot. I'd like to upgrade my tranny and think that a sequential gearbox would be great. I have searched online and found that xtrac is the leading maker of aftermarket sequential gearboxs. However their website does little to help me.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has or knows about specific gearbox models that are compatible with C5s?

Also, How reliable are these gearboxs (especially if you track the car and only use the clutch to launch)? Also, how well do they work on the street?

Finally, How much do they cost?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Sequential gearboxes are usually used for racing ... so they are robust and reliable.

There is an Australian company that makes a sequential gearbox that can be adapted to the Corvette ....

http://www.holinger.com.au/

There is a company here in the US that imports them and makes the adapters neccesary to fit the tranny between the torque tube and the differential ...

http://www.wavetrac.net/h_inlgearbox.shtml

Start saving your pennies kid, the gearbox alone is over $20k last time I heard a price for it .....

Added info for you ...

If you REALLY want to spend money .....

http://www.rileytech.com/Corvette.html

Order this baby from Riley and notice it comes with an Emco tranny as standard ....

http://www.emco-gears.com/trans.html

The Xtrac tranny is optional ....

These kinds of gearboxes fall in the category of "if you have to ask the price .... you can't afford them ..."

LG also imports and sells them. Holinger sequential maybe close to $25,000 now.

Short-Throw has one in his car.

There is also

X-trac
Emco
Hewland

all build sequential. Might be close to $100K with spare gear sets
