would 30k on a fuel filter cause detonation. stock car pings four gears always above 190F 3500 rpms. done seafome four times uses no engine oil plugs and wires new. always 93 octain all flavors suck the same

Have you checked for engine codes? Could be a bad knock sensor that is allowing too much spark.
are you the original owner, if not the previous owner may have had a dynotune? Also.. do you know what RFG Gas is? Its used in most cities in the Summertime to reduce emissions.. Up to 10% ethynol; It sucks.. We have it here in Dallas and I have to add a can of Torco every fill up in the Summer time.. ( I've had a dynotune and run advanced timing)
I doubt it is the fuel filter, it could be plugs. I would start w/ a tune up (changing the filters and plugs/wires) and then running a few bottles of techron (one to a tankful) through the car w/ Shell Vpower fuel. The tune up offers a nice starting point and can be skipped if you recently tunes the car.
Shell is a top tier gasoline and has a higher standard of refinement. It should clean things out.

I too have noticed a slight spark knock this summer and I attribute it to the gas blend. My car has a dyno tune and no top tier gas in my area.

im not the original owner and we do run 10 ethynol and this is when it all started thanks tree huggers

tune up is fresh and i run 10 bottles of techtron and 50 tanks of shell 93 no differance i may go to a colder spark plug

Got the same problem. Whats Torco and what does it do for you?
TORCO or Octanium works pretty good as a octane booster. Brings a Vette tankfull up to around 100 or so octane. Mine was doing the same thing, tune, exhaust, heads, moderately cammed, with 26 degrees of timing thrown in. Any temp above 190 would get some pinging under a load. Put in the Octanium, ping gone and better power. Hate the corn fuel, LOVE race gas!!

You could try a seafoam treatment, likely carbon build up that is causing the pinging. I'm not a big believer in seafoam but it could help you. Do a search for all the details.

ive run a small tanker of seafoam threw it no diff. not carbon build up im going to check for a intake leak today.
This is my first summer with the 97 Vette and have had quite a lot of ping when the weather is hot (Houston). Car is at LMR for dyno tune right now - will see how it does when they have done their magic. Octane booster helps but doesn't eliminate the ping altogether - I put a 160 thermostat in and am having the fans temps lowered in the tune - hope that helps too.
Torco and octanium are the best octane boosters.. They are only sold through vendors. Can't find them at any auto parts store.. Lucas Octane booster is the best booster you can find at any auto parts store, it works for me just fine, but is not as good as Torco or Octanium.. The rest of the boosters are junk, snake oil.. I've tried them all. Yes.. tried all of them The gas blend is the problem.. Wait till about October and you won't need any booster help.. Here in Dallas, May-September,, the blended gas sucks.. I had to live with it with my 99 C5 and now with the Z06.. I went through what superjet is going through.. as well as many others.. Been there done that.. I have to add a bottle of booster to every tank of gas or I get the dreaded "marbles in a coffee can noise" The knock sensors only work to a certain point,, I'm lucky the car is not a daily driver.. Jbsblownc5 is a vendor for Torco http://www.jbsblownc5.net/html/torco.html#5gal

I thought ethanol had an octane rating of about 113. So how are the ethanol-gas blends made so that they would cause knock?
Do the ethanol blends use a lower octane gasoline that when blended with the higher-octane ethanol yield an equivalent 91 octane? Is the lower octane fuel that is blended with the high-octane ethanol the culprit in causing the knock?

A stock car (or mildly modified for that matter) should not ping on premium fuel, using a booster is masking the issue. I would be more concerned about fixing the issue than covering it up w/ octane booster.
Ours did it too. The GM top end cleaner did the trick. No more ping. It is all the crud in todays gas. I try to run top tier gas but it still builds up gunk over time.

ok car is fixed thanks to don from slowhawk. ran it on the dyno timing was way off up around 32 deg dropped it way down fuel trims way off, fixed it, all car runs stronger 32 mpg at 85 mph with ac on put down 329hp and 341 ft lbs tq on a stock car back to back dyno pulls. no bucking on street when letting out clutch or pinging at 4k. fans set at 195 and 205
