Re: BRIDGESTONE SO2's?? (Mikie C)
I have had the S02s on my car for over a year now. They are very good dry performance tires, they wear well, and the noise level is better than other like tires. When I purchased these tires, other tires had better wet capabilities, but since I don't drive the car in the rain, it didn't matter to me. My understanding is that the new S03s have the same dry capabilities, but now have improved wet capabilities.
I also have the S02's and am very pleased with their performance. In the dry, they are very predictable. The same can be said for their performance in the wet. Since I am putting close to 400 hp to the ground and a lot more torque, I need lots of traction. I would have to disagree with Herb in that there are other tires out there with more wet performance than the S02's. The performance drops off much less than any other tire in the same category. It may fall slightly short to Michellin and BFG in the dry, but it outperforms them in the wet. This is mainly due to the compound. This is a good trade off to me even though So. Cal. sees very little rain, its nice to know the traction in the wet is there. In order to compete with these other two manufactures in the dry, Bridgestone came out with the S03. According to TireRack, the dry performance number is higher for the S03 when comparing to the S02. I wish they did not stop making the S02 because it is a great tire. I am sure the S03 performs very well, but I love the tread pattern of S02, not that it means much, but I like it better than the S03's. If you haven't noticed yet, I am very happy with the Bridgestones.

I would have to disagree with Herb... john
John,
I know that I researched the available tires very carefully before choosing Bridgestone S02s...my post was my recollection, but you know once you hit 50, the memory starts to go... :yesnod:
Tire Rack shipped me a set of the SO3's today, which I will get on the car next week. I don't know, but I would imagine that these are a replacement for the SO2's. Jim at 219-287-2345, Ext. 364 would know.
I have owned a set of S02 Polepositions and so far they have been my favorite set I have ever had. The wet traction of the tires stands out way above the Pilot Sport, Firehawk, Goodyear GS-C, Goodyear F1 Supercar, and Pilot XGT Z4 tires that I have had. The S02's dry traction is very good also and only the Supercars felt better to me. I concur about the noise level too. They are very quiet. Tire wear was about the same as any other Z rated tire. Good for 28,000 to 30,000 miles. Unless of course you really use the tires. :)
