I received my rebuilt EBCM from AbsFixer on Friday afternoon after receiving several codes including C1214. My mechanic reinstalled the rebuilt EBCM on Saturday (the following day). He hooked up his Modis scan tool to my car and all codes were erased except C1265. C1265 is identified as “LR Inlet Valve Solenoid Malfunction”. Upon contacting Brandon at ABSfixer and informing him of my situation he tells me, “your mechanic must have damaged it during the reinstall. You’re going to need to remove it and ship it back to me so I can repair it.” I explained to him that there’s absolutely no way he could have damaged the rebuilt EBCM because I was watching him the entire time. At no point was the EBCM dropped or mounted improperly. He continued to tell me, “ship it to me and I’ll take care of it”. I guess that’s what I’ll do seeing as that I have no other choice. My concern is that I’m running around in circles making unnecessary expenditures (2x mechanic’s labor, 2x shipping fees, my time....etc.). Anyone have a similar experience? If so, please HELP !
After having my mechanic remove the EBCM for a 2nd time, I sent it back to ABS Fixer. After a week of no response from ABS Fixer, I contacted Brandon on his cell phone. He told me that he's been working on it for quite some time now and that all the solenoids are fully functioning and that I was right in saying that my mechanic did not damage the EBCM. He said that the logic portion on the EBCM may be faulty but he still wants to "work on it". He said that I'd have two options if he couldn't repair it: 1) He'll refund my $200 or 2) I can send him an additional $100 so that he can send me a refurbished EBCM
What do you guys make of this ordeal ? It sounds to me like Brandon already knows what's wrong with my EBCM and he's just trying make up for his poor repair which is why he's charging me another $100
Also, why is Brandon charging me another $100 for a refurbished unit ? What does his $150 fee cover exactly when we send him our EBCM's for repair ?
Sounds to me like he is being a stand up guy and dealing with you fairly.
I'd like to think that. but when my mechanic (who charges $70 an hour) is asked to remove my EBCM twice for a repair that should have been throughly examined by ABS fixer, it raises many questions. I don't think ABS Fixer plans on paying my mechanic for his countless hours of trying to diagnose the ABS/Trac control problems, do you? If ABS fixer is telling me that the EBCM "logic" may need replacing why didn't he his full test of the EBCM before he sent it to me. ABS Fixer specializes in EBCM's. It's the "bread and butter" of their business. Why wouldn't they look at every single EBCM thoroughly before returning it to their customer. What's my $150 + $50 surcharge good for then ? Only the solenoids ?
Here's an update: I had the EBCM installed yesterday afternoon and it works great. I have no codes whatsoever. Keep in mind, this is not the O.E.M. EBCM that I removed from my car and shipped out to ABS Fixer a few weeks ago. The EBCM I currently have is another "refurbished" one that Brandon sent me. He kept my O.E.M. EBCM because he said that it had a bad logic. Anyhow, my car is back to par and all is good.
It may be very possible that he is not able to do a full test of the EBCM logic. To do that he may need special test equipment that is only available at the factory where the module is built.
i know you must have been frustrated but it was still cheaper than letting the dealer fix it. it seems like brandon was honest about everything. i have to agree wit bill also. he may not beable to do a complete test of the logic system.
