Default Thoughts on used headers?

Gonna buy some headers soon, wanna do a cam possibly too. What are your thoughts on used headers, I've heard that they may not seal and you won't be able to tell until they are on the car.

Should I stay away from these?

Um... no issues. If you buy a quality product like LGM, Kooks, or American Racing you won't have any issues.

Of late C5ers have been cheaping out and a few are going with the Chinese junk made by SS AutoChrome and those take a welder and an exhaust shop to install correctly.

Also, make sure of the model year or you may have some fit issues. Check the selling price against a new set. Get a lot of good detail pictures before you buy. Unless there is a significant price difference I would buy new.

Contact LG Motorsports. They often have nice used sets of headers that they took off customer cars that were buying LGM headers.

Thanks for the info guys. I have emailed LG and Texas speed, and am gonna look into kooks probably. I will most likely buy a new set, however if I run into a good quality used set then I may jump on it.

I have a set of QTP's on my car, been on there for a few years. Other than some discoloration due to heat, they look as good as the day I put them on. I agree, quality up front should last a long time.

i got a set of used tpis headers not too long ago and had no problems with fit at all. if you are buying a well known brand there is nothing wrong with buying used.

I prefer used. If they are still in good shape after someone else beat them up, they aren't going anywhere. I don't think I would ever buy a new set of headers... Unless I had a show car....
