Had an error that started about 6-8 months ago the caused the DIC to display REDUCED ENGINE POWER. This usually happened when I hit a bump in the road. The gauges would go haywire, half would read zero and the other would be maxed out. After a few minutes everything would go back to normal.
I just finished a CAM swap (again) and now the problem exists every time you insert the key. I had a leaky battery, so I repaired the damages to frame paint and replaced the PCM. I had the new PCM program disable the VATS, to be turned on later. After I installed the new PCM everything was fine, the car even started and ran with a stock tune, but as soon as I try to upload a new tune using HP Tuners, Reduced Engine Power lights up. I also get the message Non Communication with PCM error.
This may or may not be related. The passenger door has zero functions. The window, mirror and door locks are in operable also. No clicks, buzz or any type of sounds when buttons are pushed on either door.
At the end of my rope here… I am going today, to start removing the protective covering from the wiring harness a look for ground outs. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
The rubber accordion tube between the doors contains two wiring harnesses. There is a class problem with a bare wire shorting out and it can cause this issue.
Remove the accordion tubes and check the connectors for a bare wire.
That bare wire needs to be covered. I used liquid electrical tape.
I have a gap in the insulation, just not as wide as the one in the photo. After looking at the wire two questions come to mind. What could the wire ground to? What is the wires purpose? The inslation for the wire appears not to be normal type wire...
