I agree,
So let's turn the mud a little. Has anyone installed the OBX short tube headers?
They advertize them has direct replacement for the stock manifolds.
Just need the facts.
Thanks

Default Short tube not installed went long tube

Thought about it, but went long tube instead, I love these people saying these are terrible, yeah they do not fit perfect I will agree, I had to remove the front exhaust hanger from my bell housing and modified the center alluminum support to fit the O2 sensors but all in all I love them. I know if I would have spent more they probably would have fit alot better, had to trim a flange on the body and extremly close to the heat shield. I just thought I would give them a shot for the price they are, and I am happy.

Basically aren't we looking at 3 criteria? Fit , Form , and Function
Those of you who have installed the OBX Headers, would you please rate these areas (1 to 10), 10 being excellent.
Fit, was there any modifications required to the car or headers during installation? Were they simple or difficult?
Form, is for the quality of the material and craftsmanship to manufacture the headers.
Function, is for the final performance after the installation
Thanks

I have installed them on a friends Vette and the quality was just ok. By that I mean the welds inside the plate where the tubes are which mount up to the heads were terrible. We had to do a bunch of grinding and some extra welding in order to smooth everything out. The O2 bungs were in on top of each other so we had to move one, but with all that said, they mounted up nicely. So for the people who do not mind working on their cars and possibly having to spend a little extra time on them, I would say go for it. If you are going to have a shop do this then you may want to contact them to see if they have any issues about installing your particular headers. In the end I did buy a pair for myself and they appear to be a better quality then my buddies but then again I will see when I get around to installing them and as I stated before I do not mind possibly having to put in a little more effort to get these to work. I think it is part of the fun, and sometimes part of the fun stories that I will have to tell others later.

Installed a set I bought used for 185.00. Purpose was weight reduction. Quality was good with nice welds. Installation went well with no modifications needed.

Default Just Installed a Set Of OBX Long Tubes...

Howdy All...

I just installed a set of OBX LT's...They Look Awesome...Of course as Most searching comes up as these ARE Poorly Packaged...They Are A Nice Set Of Headers...Especially The Price...Well...That(price) Is Compared to Other Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers with resonators(no Cats) and A Nice X-Pipe...

I did Alot of Research Before I purchased Them...Seems That Most of the Problems are from When they first Started Making Them...They Came With Bolts...However They Were Not Long enough...Go-To Local Hardware Store...Buy some 1/2 Inch Longer...You will Also Want To have a Piece of Steel roughly 6 inches Long( I used a Piece that was Flat and about 1 & 1/2 inches Wide and 3/8ths inches thickYou will also Need Two Nuts and Bolts)...once the Headers are Bolted Down...Cut the steel and drill 4 Holes...2 to bolt the piece of steel to the front factory exhaust mount located at the Bottom of the Bell Housing(you may or may not have to Flip the around)...Then Dill 2 more holes and bolt the headers to the Bracket(piece of steel)...

Thought that I would Give them a Try...Seems How I was doing a ALL New Head/Cam/04 LS6 PVC/Lifters/HV Oil Pump/LS6 Intake...etc...

They Went In as most searches would Have You Believe...Take Out the Starter and Oil Filter...They are A Tight squeeze just Kind Of fenesse them In...Both from Under the Car...Seems Like NO-WAY Will They Fit...Just go up-in-down-tip and Bam...They are Up...Just Remember To Put The Starter BACK IN Before You Bolt the Header to the Engine...Driver side YOU MUST Reove the Ground Cable and Disconnect the Oil Temp Right above the Oil Filter...Plenty of Room to reconnect them after Header is Bolted-Up...Be Careful Not to Hit the sending Unit when Putting the Header in...

My Tail Pipes Line-Up Perfect...You Will Also Need some Gaskets...Where Your rear pipes Bolt-Up to the pipes...They come with the rest of the Gaskets that you will Need...

THEY LOOK GREAT...BEFORE AND AFTER I INSTALLED THEM...

O'Yea...They Sound Pretty Good as well...Not sure If they Gave Me Any Power...As I did the headers along With H/C/I...

This IS For those of you on the Fence on the OBX LT's...I cannot see where MORE Money Spent could Be a Benifit...

You can say My Savings Paid for My LS6 Intake...My Cam AND in some cases My 1.7* Yella Terra Shaft oller Rockers...

Not at all...

I do Know that this Thread pops up in google search...AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE...

I saw it when I was searching...BEFORE...I purchased My Headers(a couple of weeks ago)...

It popped-Up Agian...As I was searching on what Codes are common after LT Header Install(this evening)...

I did Notice there ARE Some current responses to this thread...Seems How IT IS AN active Thread as well as One That Seems To Be At The TOP Of the page when Searching for header Info on C5 Corvettes while using google/bing or Whatever...

It maybe helpfull for someone interested in OBX Headers to have some Current Possitve Feedback...FROM Someone That Purchased a set of them AND Installed them...Also Like Them Very Much...4-Stars...Only because of the Poor Packaging...Otherwise it would Be a 5 Star rating from ME...

Thank You Very Much...

Heck...I search...Long before I Purchase anything...You Know...Do A Google/Bing and or whatever other brower Pops Up...To Get the PROS & CONS...About items and How they Work And Fit OR Even Look for that Matter...Have To Search Many Fourums and Threads...Then Make My Own Determination as To How I Feel It Will Work For My Needs...

As I mentioned...Earlier...This Thread Popped-Up Multiple Times In My Searches(Usually At the Top of the Page/Darn them Search engines)...Certianly Humorus at Times How Some Are Mighty'r than Others...With Closed Minded Bias Opinions...

Heck sometimes It is Hard to Stop reading When a simple Question turns Into Heated Debates at times ...Very entertaining...Just The Facts Please(Ya'right)...
