I have a dileama as I ordered my replacement Textralia disk from a forum vender and they sent the 'hybrid' disk which uses two different materials instead of the disk which looks identical on both sides. The one I pulled out had six 'pucks' (Z-grip disk) and the new one has more 'smaller' pucks on the one side and a full carbon friction surface on the other side (X-grip). Sadly, I specifically mentioned the Z-grip when I ordered this...
I haven't even put the disk on the flywheel (still on car, still wearing my 'office' attire.) But it seems to fit the pressure plate just fine. Are there differences between the two clutches, other than the disks?
Pictures for reference. Original disk on the left, new on the right.
edit:
Vendor is sending the Z-grip disk and I'm going to send the x-grip back.
Problem solved.

I take it the 'x-grip' is known as the full race version... or is the opposite true? On the TEX website they refer to the Z-grip as the moderate-to-severe duty clutch...
X-grip is more street friendly and you don't have to do clutch dumps to try and stop if from chattering. Unless you have a lot of HP, you may be better off with the x-grip.
my Z grip has never chattered in 10000 miles. and is very very doable on the street. All in the eye of the beholder...its no stock clutch..but its no triple disc craziness either

While that's how I understand it as well, there's still two questions in my head.
1. Are the PP and flywheel the same for both setups?
(if the answer is no, go to the second question)
2. Since the 'disk friction diameters' are different (the x-grip is about the same 'outer' diameter, but the inner diameter is smaller.) Meaning the friction material is larger on the x-grip and will cover a different area on the pressure plate.
I don't believe the PP and flywheel are different, but that is best confirmed by Textralia or a vendor who is more familiar with the actual components.
MUCH easier said than done, I'm afraid. I emailed TEX directly a week ago about buying a new, replacement disk and didn't hear a thing. Hell, I barely heard anything from a couple venders on the forum. Somehow I doubt they'll be kind enough to respond...
