I noticed that if I do a few pulls from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th I can actually smell the cats or what I think is the cats. It's a faint hint of a egg smell/something else. Yeah I know that doesn't help but that's the best way I can explain this. Any idea? I have no codes and the car runs fine with no issues and gets great gas mileags.
I get a similar smell too. Not quite egg smell. It's more of a hot metal smell. When I put on the new high flow cats that came with my American Racing Headers they smelled when I got on it too. I (and my tuner) think it is normal. I'm pretty sure plywood is not a good vapor barrier.
I've been told in the past that getting a rotten egg/sulfur smell from your cats usually means they are breaking apart on the insides. Might be crap, bad info passed on and on. I have no personal experience, so I only speak from word-of-mouth.
